Free cake smash presets and first birthday session kit

Cake Smash Window Light and Cake Smash Bright Studio are two original XMP editing starting points for first birthday portraits. The download also includes setup, cleanup and editing guides. The page photograph is illustrative; it does not show either preset applied.

Plan for the child first

Ask the parent or guardian about allergies, ingredients and food choices before the session. Keep a responsible adult within reach, use a stable floor-level setup and avoid decorations or cake parts that could be choking hazards. Allow time for warm-up portraits before introducing the cake, and keep towels and a change of clothes nearby.

Edit with restraint

Set exposure and white balance before choosing the variant that matches the light. Check skin, white frosting and pale props separately. Do not sync settings across window and studio frames without reviewing them. The XMP files passed structural checks, but Adobe import and real-photo results have not yet been verified; test before client delivery.
