Start with the service and the buyer
This guide helps photographers building their first portfolio or shifting toward a new specialty. Write the offer before choosing images: who is buying, what they need, and what the finished photographs must do. A small business commissioning a website image library needs different proof from a family choosing someone to photograph energetic children.
List the questions the portfolio must answer. Can this photographer handle the setting, group size, lighting conditions, and image variety required? Does the style feel consistent? Are people represented respectfully? The goal is to reduce uncertainty about the purchase, not to display every technically interesting photograph you have made.
